Embroidery Hoop Techniques to Try
There are different techniques that are done with hoops. As you
learn these techniques you will find that hooping may be hard on the
hands; they may ache and be quite sore after hooping. Of course, you
will also need to adapt to the type of hoop which you need for your
particular item that you are going to embroider.
Some simple steps to follow for hooping include the following: Cut
the stabilizer an inch or so wider and longer than the hoop size;
use a water soluble pen or a disappearing pen to make marks on
fabric so you will know where you should align the hoop.
Next loosen the screw and put the stabilizer on top of the hoop side
that has the hooks. Insert both the stabilizer and hoop underneath
the garment location to be stitched. Line up the plastic gauge on
top of the marking and make sure that it is straight with the
previous marking spots.
Put the top hoop into your work and press down until it is at the
location you want and tighten the screw in the frame. It is very
important that you do NOT over-tighten as this can strip the frame
or the screw.
Turn your work over to make sure that the stabilizer underneath is
tucked in and not buckled.
Please note that you should not stretch the T shirt fabric. It must
be flat and firm, but not taut because the design, as well as the
shirt will stretch and become out of shape.
