Cont: Making Custom Embroidered Clothing

Embellishing a nice pair of jeans or a jean jacket is a way to provide you with apparel that is different and fun. It is also an inexpensive manner in which to set your clothing apart from the ordinary, especially if you can embroider the clothing yourself. You just need a sharp needle, several different colors of embroidery floss and some instructions. Of course, having a knowledge of the embroidery stitches will also be most helpful. You can find more information about embroidery stitches in books at arts and crafts stores easily.

Cut out the paper patterns and each pattern design. Then baste the pattern, using temporary stitches, to the jeans. Work around the outside of the pattern in an outlined embroidery stitch. It is best not to embroider on the knees of the jeans as this area will get narrow which will be difficult to turn the needle.

In order to custom embroider an item, you must first digitize your design. If you feel you can accomplish such a task, there are instructions that can guide you in this process; or you may send a drawing of the artwork to people who deal in custom embroidery. Those people can turn that artwork into the proper format so that it may be transferred onto your clothing or other item. Digitizing a design provides the computer with the means to gauge the colors and size needed to embroider that particular design.

A shirt normally contains an embroidered design on the left side of the garment, whereas names or team numbers are positioned on the right or left sleeve.
